...The Arizona Strip
a remote stretch of the I-15

The Arizona Strip is a rugged region of the far northwestern corner of Arizona, actually separated from the rest of the state by the Colorado River. This breath-taking section of the state is Interstate 15 as it crosses between Nevada and Utah. This section is called the Virgin River Gorge, as it parallels the Virgin River.

Heading north, there seems to be more pullouts for photos. Also, the Virgin River Gorge Recreation Area can be accessed going north. It's a small cozy campground with nothing but vault toilets, surrounded by this incredible strip of land. Remote, yes. The Lake Mead area to the south and Utah to the north would be the closest areas of civilization.

At one of the turnouts going north, we noticed the black image of a horse's head on the rock wall across the river. It looked pretty clear to us.
